Recimo, da li bi u obzir, kada je u pitanju istorija prikazivanja homoseksualaca na filmu, trebalo uzeti samo &#8221;o\u010digledne&#8221;, ili takozvano denotativno ozna\u010dene likove &#8211; to jest, da li su homoseksualni likovi samo oni koji su kao takvi odre\u0111eni dijalogom ili vizuelnim prikazom odre\u0111enog seksualnog i emotivnog pona\u0161anja? \u0160ta je sa onim likovima koje su gledaoci do\u017eiveli kao homoseksualne, zahvaljuju\u0107i onome \u0161to se obi\u010dno smatra konotativnim ozna\u010davanjem, kao \u0161to su boja glasa, na\u010din obla\u010denja, te neke druge stilske oznake, ili pak (pod)kulturnim ozna\u010davanjem, zastupljenim u \u0161alama i aluzijama?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7494 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/torcsong.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/torcsong.jpg 243w, https:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/torcsong-164x300.jpg 164w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/>Dok je sasvim jasno da je lik Harvy Fiersteina, Arnold Beckhoff, u filmu <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0096289\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Torch Song Trilogy<\/em><\/a> (Paul Bogart, 1988) homoseksualac, a zbog toga \u0161to radi kao drag queen, te ima seksualne odnose sa mu\u0161karcima, \u0161ta je sa dvojicom ubica u filmu Alfreda Hitchocka <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0040746\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Rope<\/em><\/a> (1948)? O njima se niko eksplicitno ne izja\u0161njava, niti ih mo\u017eemo videti u nekom romanti\u010dnom ili seksualnom kontekstu. Ali moderan na\u010din na koji se obla\u010de, ukusno ure\u0111en enterijer njihovog stana, njihovi zvu\u010dni i blagi glasovi, kao i ne\u0161to u vezi sa njihovim govorom tela i \u010dinjenicom da stoje veoma blizu jedan drugog kada su sami, mnoge gledaoce su uverili u to da se radi o homoseksualnim junacima, dok neki drugi posmatra\u010di ove signale ne do\u017eivljavaju na taj na\u010din. Budu\u0107i da je tako, trenutak koji bi neko odredio kao po\u010detak prikazivanja homoseksualaca na filmu zavisi od toga kako taj prepoznaje homoseksualnost, to jest ono \u0161to se ozna\u010dava kao gej na filmu. Pitanje takvog prepoznavanja homoseksualnosti je mo\u017eda va\u017enije u kontekstu mainstream filma, nego u kontekstu dokumentarnog, nezavisnog ili avangardnog filma, po\u0161to su filmovi iz ove poslednje tri kategorije \u010desto eksplicitniji u izja\u0161njavanju o homoseksualnosti, te u prikazivanju materijala seksualnog karaktera.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0112651\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Celluloid Closet<\/a><\/em> Vita Russoa je najpoznatiji pregled ovakve istorije, a kako denotativno, tako i konotativno ozna\u010denih homoseksualaca i lezbejki u mainstream i nezavisnom filmu od 1895. do 1987. godine. Russoova knjiga po\u010dinje pri\u010dom o kratkom filmu iz produkcije Edison Studios, koji prikazuje dva mu\u0161karca koji ple\u0161u, <a href=\"http:\/\/home.bt.com\/news\/on-this-day\/december-28-1895-the-cinema-is-born-as-lumiere-brothers-hold-first-paid-for-screening-11363951765574\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Guy Brothers<\/em><\/a> (1895), i zavr\u0161ava sa nezavisnim filmovima koji se grani\u010de sa mainstreamom, a kao \u0161to je <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0091578\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>My Beautiful Laundrette<\/em><\/a> (Stephen Frears, 1986); Knjiga obra\u0111uje sadr\u017eaje u okviru kojih su gej mu\u0161karci prikazani kao mlakonje tokom tridesetih godina pro\u0161log veka, kao opskurni likovi tokom \u010detrdesetih, kao progonjeni, komi\u010dni junaci ili oni sa ubila\u010dkim nagonima tokom \u0161ezdesetih i sedamdesetih godina, te, napokon, kao obi\u010dni ljudi, &#8221;sasvim nalik na heteroseksualce&#8221;, tokom osamdesetih godina. Sve u svemu, Russo pokazuje <strong>da je istorija predstavljanja homoseksualaca i lezbejki na filmu bila daleko od sjajne<\/strong>, te da je bila <strong>prepuna dezinformacija i negativnih prikaza svake vrste<\/strong>, uklju\u010duju\u0107i i doskora\u0161nji stereotip &#8211; &#8221;<em>homoseksualac kao \u017ertva AIDS-a<\/em>&#8221;. Kao \u0161to je to slu\u010daj sa tuma\u010denjima drugih kriti\u010dara, i Russoovo tuma\u010denje je velikim delom obojeno pristupom koji se prikazivanjem homoseksualaca na filmu bavi u kontekstu &#8221;pozitivnih&#8221; i &#8221;negativnih&#8221; predstava, to jest, u smislu koliko je jedan prikaz stereotipan ili ne. Pa ipak, mnogi su ovom pristupu analiziranju istorije prikazivanja homoseksualaca zamerili njegovu tendenciju da suvi\u0161e usko i konzervativno defini\u0161e \u0161ta to odre\u0111uje jedan &#8221;pozitivni prikaz&#8221;. Sem toga, ne sla\u017eu se svi ni oko toga \u0161ta je zapravo stereotipan prikaz: na primer, drag queens iz filma <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0109045\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert<\/em><\/a> (Stephan Elliott, 1995) jedna grupa ljudi bi mogla pe\u017eorativno da do\u017eivi kao stereotipne, druga grupa bi mogla da ih shvati pozitivno, kao kompleksne, a neka tre\u0107a bi ih mogla do\u017eiveti kao prilicno ograni\u010dene, ako ne i negativne likove.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homoseksualnost u filmskoj produkciji<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Postoje tri aspekta u istoriji gej filmske produkcije: <strong>nevidljivi, zatvoreni i otvoreni<\/strong>. Prve dve kategorije su naj\u010de\u0161\u0107e povezane sa mainstream (&#8221;holivudskom&#8221;) produkcijom, dok se ova poslednja uglavnom vezuje za dokumentarnu, nazavisnu i avangardnu produkciju. Iako mo\u017eda nikad ne\u0107emo znati ko su oni bili i kakav je ta\u010dno bio njihov doprinos, mo\u017eemo slobodno reci da je na hiljade homoseksualaca u\u010destvovalo u snimanju svih vrsta filmova tokom svih ovih godina. Ovi ljudi \u010dine &#8221;nevidljivu&#8221; istoriju gej filmske produkcije. Najdalje \u0161to mo\u017eemo oti\u0107i u poku\u0161aju da proniknemo u ovu nevidljivu, nezabele\u017eenu istoriju je<strong> kada imamo &#8221;\u010dudan ose\u0107aj&#8221; dok gledamo neki film, te \u010dujemo ili vidimo ne\u0161to, pa pomislimo<\/strong>: &#8220;<em>Ovo je sigurno radila neka queer osoba<\/em>&#8221;. Sve ve\u0107i deo ove nevidljive istorije izlazi na videlo zauzimaju\u0107i mesto u okviru istorije produkcije zatvorenog gej filma, zbog \u010dinjenice da se pojedinci javno deklari\u0161u kao homoseksualci, odnosno autuju. Rezultat toga je da \u0107e mnogi pojedinci, kao \u0161to je to slu\u010daj sa rediteljem Georgeom Cukorom ili glumcem Rockom Hudsonom, biti smatrani za deo istorije gej filmske produkcije nakon javne obznane njihove seksualnosti.<\/p>\n<p>S tim u vezi, Matthew Tinckom napisao je \u010dlanak pod nazivom &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/1225754?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Working Like a Homosexual: Camp Visual Codes and the Labor of Gay Subjects in the MGM Freed Unit<\/em><\/a>&#8220;, u kojem posmatra odre\u0111ene klasi\u010dne mjuzikle MGM produkcije &#8211; na prvom mestu su to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0038262\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Yolanda and the Thief<\/em><\/a> (Vincente Minnelli, 1945) i <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0040694\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Pirate<\/em><\/a> (Vincente Minnelli, 1948) &#8211; kao deo istorije gej filmske produkcije, kako zbog pozitivnog odgovora homoseksualne publike na ono \u0161to je kemp u ovim mjuziklima, tako i zbog reakcija op\u0161te publike. Metodologija koju Tikcom koristi u razmatranju istorije gej filmske produkcije za vreme &#8221;Zlatne ere Holivuda&#8221; u velikoj je meri i dalje od koristi u gra\u0111enju skorije istorije otvorene gej produkcije mainstream filma, po\u0161to najve\u0107i deo homoseksualaca koji u\u010destvuju u snimanju filma, a sa obe strane kamere, i dalje ostaje nevidljiv, to jest neautovan. Najbolji izvor, kada je u pitanju istorija otvorene gej filmske produkcije, trenutno predstavlja <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Now-You-See-Richard-Dyer\/dp\/041525499X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Now You See It: Studies on Lesbian and Gay Film and Video<\/em><\/a> Richarda Dyera. Dyer prati istoriju gej dokumentarne, mainstream, nezavisne i onoga \u0161to on zove &#8221;afirmativnim&#8221; i &#8221;post-afirmativnim&#8221; dramskim i dokumentarnim filmovima iz sedamdesetih i osamdesetih, nakon Stonewallske revolucije.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homoseksualna filmska publika<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7496 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/10-trouble-teens.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/10-trouble-teens.jpg 450w, https:\/\/gayecho.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/10-trouble-teens-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/>Zbog svojih \u010desto konotativno odre\u0111enih, podtekstualnih, nevidljivih ili zatvorenih aspekata gej produkcije i prikazivanja, homoseksualna filmska publika \u010desto je veoma va\u017ean izvor pri gra\u0111enju istorije gej filma. Naoru\u017eani tra\u010devima, glasinama i tom nejasnom stvari nazvanom &#8221;gej senzibilitet&#8221;, gledaoci su \u010desto izvrgavali ruglu i na druge na\u010dine poku\u0161avali da diskredituju gej publiku, kao i njihove &#8221;nastrane&#8221; filmove, likove, izvo\u0111a\u010de, reditelje i druge radnike na filmu. Razmatranje pojma &#8221;gej filma&#8221; iz perspektive filmske publike nudi nam najsveobuhvatniju (neki bi rekli najmanje rigoroznu) istoriju gej filma, jer bi ona obuhvatila <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0059742\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Sound of Music<\/em><\/a> (Robert Wise, 1965) kao i <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0039383\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Fireworks<\/em><\/a> (Kenneth Anger, 1947), Mariu Montez ba\u0161 kao i Iana McKellena, Alfreda Hitchcocka kao i Gregga Arakija i Joela Caira (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0033870\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Maltese Falcon<\/a><\/em> Johna Hustona iz 1941) koliko i Andrewa Becketta (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0107818\/?ref_=nv_sr_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Philadelphia<\/em><\/a> Jonathana Demmea iz 1993). Kao \u0161to se to mo\u017ee primetiti pri pomenu imena Montezove, istorija gej filma koju bi sa\u010dinila publika uklju\u010divala bi i \u017eene kao i mu\u0161karce, te bi tako\u0111e ukinula mnoge razlike izme\u0111u homoseksualne i lezbejske filmske istorije, budu\u0107i da odre\u0111eni broj homoseksualaca kao deo istorije svoje popularne queer kulture ra\u010duna i takve li\u010dnosti, likove i filmove kao \u0161to su Marlene Dietrich, dela koja je re\u017eirala Dorothy Arzner, lik Mrs. Danvers (u filmu <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0032976\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Rebecca<\/em><\/a>, Alfreda Hitchcocka iz 1940), dva glavna (\u017eenska) lika u filmu <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0110005\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Heavenly Creatures<\/em><\/a> (Nebeska stvorenja Petera Jacksona iz 1995) i kratki filmovi Sadie Benning.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Kratak hronolo\u0161ki pregled istorije prikazivanja homoseksualaca na filmu i njihove filmske produkcije:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>1895. William Dickson re\u017eira The Gay Brothers za Edison Studios. Ovaj kratki film prikazuje dva mu\u0161karca kako ple\u0161u, dok tre\u0107i svira violinu.<\/p>\n<p>1914. A Florida Enchantment, \u010diji je reditelj Sidney Drew, bavi se mu\u0161kim i \u017eenskim polom, te obrtanjem uloga.<\/p>\n<p>1915. Fatty Arbuckle (Miss Fatty\u0092s i Seaside Lovers) i Charles Chaplin (A Woman) samo su dvojica me\u0111u mnogim komi\u010darima koji su se preobukli u \u017eene u vreme nemog filma.<\/p>\n<p>1916. Adaptacija komada Salome Oscara Wildea koju je uradila Nazimova ima prete\u017eno homoseksualnu i lezbejsku postavku.<\/p>\n<p>1930-e. Vito Russo naziva ovu dekadu dekadom &#8221;mlakonja&#8221;, gde glumci kao \u0161to su Franklin Pangborn, Edward Everett Horton i Eric Blore prave karijere igraju\u0107i sporedne feminizirane likove. Period potencijalno homoseksualnih likova u noir i ratnim filmovima, mjuziklima i vesternima. \u010cesto postoji tanka linija izme\u0111u partnerstva u zlo\u010dinu, vojni\u010dkog dru\u017eenja, ortakluka u plesu, prijateljske avanture, i homoseksualne \u017eelje u filmovima kao \u0161to su The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1941), Anchors Aweigh (George Sidney, 1945), A Walk in the Sun (Lewis Milestone,1946), Gilda (Charles Vidor, 1946), Red River (Howard llawks, 1948) i Rope (Alfred Hitchcock, 1948). Ova &#8221;ne pitaj, ne govori&#8221; situacija je prisutna i danas u ve\u0107ini mainstream i nezavisnih filmova sa temom mu\u0161kog povezivanja.<\/p>\n<p>1947. Prvi film Kennetha Angera, Fireworks, zapo\u010dinje ono \u0161to \u0107e postati jedan od najuticajnijih materijala u ameri\u010dkoj gej avangardi. Nakon filma Fireworks usledili su, izme\u0111u ostalih, Eaux d&#8217;artifice (1953), Scorpio Rising (1962-1963), Kustom Kar Kommandoes (1965-1966), i Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969).<\/p>\n<p>1950. Genetov kratki film Un Chant d&#8217;amour, \u010dija se radnja odvija u zatvoru, predstavlja lirski prikaz sadomazohisti\u010dnog erotizma.<\/p>\n<p>1961. Pojavljuju se otvoreni homoseksualni likovi, prikazani sa simpatijama, u britanskim mainstream filmovima A Taste of Honey reditelja Tonyja Richardsona, te Victim reditelja Basila Deardena.<\/p>\n<p>1962. U ameri\u010dkom filmu Advise and Consent reditelja Ottoa Premingera homoseksualnost je prikazana na negativan na\u010din.<\/p>\n<p>1964.
